Ambassador Committee
Function: Serves as the welcoming committee for new SHRM Sarasota members.
Responsible to: SHRM Sarasota Membership Director
Responsibilities:
- Introduce new members to SHRM Sarasota at member meetings.
- Provide support to member engagement/retention measurement and strategies of SHRM Sarasota.
- Facilitate volunteer opportunities for new members.
Requirements:
- Must be an SHRM Sarasota member in good standing. SHRM membership and HRCI certification highly desirable.
- Leadership appointment is made by the President.
- Attend SHRM Volunteer Leader and HR FL teleconferences on membership attraction/retention, if feasible.
- Serves a one-year term beginning the first day of January and ending the last day of December. May be reappointed.
Certification & Professional Development Committee
Function: Promotes certification activities for SHRM Sarasota and its members.
Reports to: SHRM Sarasota President
Responsibilities:

Promotes the certification of human resource professionals through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Promotes the formation and conduct of chapter study programs to facilitate the certification of chapter members.

Encourages the certification of members.
-
Develops and distributes information to SHRM Sarasota on certification.
- Promotes all forms of professional development for SHRM Sarasota members and community at large.
Requirements:
-
Must be a SHRM Sarasota member in good standing. SHRM and HRCI certification highly recommended. Certification class facilitator requires SHRM-SCP and/or SPHR certification.

Leadership appointment is made by the current President.

Attend SHRM Volunteer Leader and HR FL teleconferences on certification, if feasible.

Serves a one-year term beginning the first day of January and ending the last day of December. May be re-appointed.
College Relations Committee
Function: Assists and promotes student chapter activities within SHRM Sarasota.
Responsible to: SHRM Sarasota Vice President
Responsibilities:

Serves as a liaison between student chapters, SHRM Sarasota, and HR Florida.

Promotes the formation of new student chapters within Sarasota and Manatee counties.
-
Serves as a communications link between student chapters and SHRM’s Student Program Manager in disseminating information relative to student programs, scholarships, certification, student conferences, etc.

Encourages participation of student chapters on the state level, if applicable.

Works with faculty advisors and SHRM Sarasota to encourage student participation in SHRM Sarasota meetings.

Develops and distributes information to SHRM Sarasota on student chapters, relations and activities.
Requirements:

Must be an SHRM Sarasota member in good standing. SHRM membership and HRCI certification highly desirable.
- Attend SHRM Volunteer Leader and HR FL teleconferences on College Relations, if feasible.

Leadership appointment is made by the current President.

As feasible, visit student chapters throughout Sarasota-Manatee counties and attend state conferences on college relations.

Serves a one-year term beginning the first day of January and ending the last day of December. May be reappointed.
Legislative Committee
Function: Monitors and evaluates pending federal, state, and local legislative, regulatory, and legal activities that may have an impact on the management of human resources.
Responsible to: President-Elect
Responsibilities:
-
Identifies, evaluates and disseminates to SHRM Sarasota issues of concern arising from potential legislation, regulatory and/or legal activities within the state which would potentially impact SHRM Sarasota members or the profession.

Prepares and distributes status reports of pending state HR-related legislation when available.
-
Actively promotes SHRM’s legislative involvement program and HR Advocacy program to SHRM Sarasota members.

Educates members on the importance of communicating to congress and conducts "How To” session on using the SHRM "Write Your Member of Congress” feature on the SHRM web site or by individual letters/phone calls/faxes.

Presents legislative updates at chapter meetings and state conferences as requested.

Encourages and organizes state letter writing initiatives/competitions to federal and state legislators on pending issues and/or legislation or HR "hot topics”.
Requirements:

Must be an SHRM Sarasota member in good standing. SHRM membership and HRCI certification highly desirable.
- Attends the SHRM Legislative Conference, if feasible; attends SHRM Volunteer Leader and HR FL legislative teleconferences, if feasible.

SHRM Foundation Committee
Function: Represents the interests of the SHRM Foundation and its activities to SHRM Sarasota.
Responsible to: President
Responsibilities:

Educates SHRM Sarasota regarding the purpose and ongoing activities of the SHRM Foundation.

Encourages SHRM Sarasota members to contribute financially to the SHRM Foundation as a show of support for the human resources profession.
-
Advises and updates members on the Foundation’s activities and fund-raising needs.
-
Develops and distributes information to members on the Foundation.

Must be an SHRM Sarasota member in good standing. SHRM membership and HRCI certification highly desirable.
- Attend SHRM Volunteer Leader SHRM Foundation teleconferences, if feasible.

Website Committee
Function: Monitors, evaluates and advocates activities concerning the use of information technology to facilitate better communication throughout SHRM Sarasota.
Responsible to: SHRM Sarasota Communications Director.
Responsibilities:

Serves as a resource for SHRM Sarasota in the use of technology to improve record keeping and informational transfer.

Maintains relationship with web hosting service for administration, troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Maintain calendar of Events, Social Media, and website page updates.
Requirements:

Must be an SHRM member in good standing. SHRM membership and HRCI certification highly desirable.

Leadership appointment is made by the President and Communications Director.

Workforce Readiness Committee
Function: Monitors and evaluates on a continuing basis state and local activities concerning workforce readiness issues, and plans SHRM Sarasota activities regarding workforce readiness.
Responsible to: SHRM Sarasota Vice President
Responsibilities:

Serves as advocate for workforce readiness for SHRM Sarasota.

Coordinates annual SHRM Sarasota program on workforce readiness.

Serves as advocate at state council activities for workforce readiness programs.
-
Monitors state and local activities concerning workforce readiness, workforce investment authorization, and education partnerships.

Develops and distributes information to SHRM Sarasota on workforce readiness.
